What I’m Thankful For

I’m Thankful for LOTS of things, but just to throw out a few things for THIS Thursday, I’m going to narrow it down.

I’m thankful for an amazing husband who works so hard to get things done.  I know that sometimes I push, and I whine about going to bed alone some nights, but the things that he accomplishes after midnight tend to be amazing and earn us income, so I’m so thankful that he can do the work, that he enjoys the work, and that he still loves me and our little Hannah through his exhaustion.  I’m sure that at this point he would be grateful for sleep, so I’ll see what I can do about that later today…but for now I’m just thankful for HIM.

I’m thankful for chemical advances…whether it’s the lozenges that are keeping me from coughing myself into an anurism, the vitamins that are getting me healthy and strong, or the soda here on my desk keeping me awake…chemicals, when used for the forces of good, are awesome!  How did people survive before cough drops and diet Coke?

I’m thankful for supportive family and friends who send clients our way, come visit with us and enlighten our lives, and enjoy taking Hannah for babysitting days so that we can work and coordinate our lives.  How would we survive without you all?!

I’m thankful for technology.  Everything that we do is somehow dependent on technology in some way, whether it’s the cell phone Jon uses to call me from the middle of Tooele for directions to a house, or the fax machine I use to submit orders for the flowers I will arrange…up to the laptop computer with a network connection that allows me to work from home on Friday’s and not feel like I’m shirking my job even when I’m home with my daughter.

For that matter, I’m thankful for a pregnant boss that is willing to see the importance of being home with my daughter on days that we don’t have sitters and the circumstances that have led her, step by step, to a place in her own life where MY needs make sense to her.

Ahhh.  Despite the cold and rain, I’m pretty grateful for lots of things, and that feels good!
