Camping, weddings, and much too much work.
What a crazy couple of weeks already! Kristy did finally come into the office to check up on things…twice now. Baby Ellie isn’t even two weeks old yet, but mommy can’t be kept down. She only came in for a couple of hours at the most each time she’s come in, but she looks fantastic. We told her that if she was determined to come back so quickly, AND be in her old jeans, there were going to be lots of women that hated her. She came anyway, but she didn’t stay long, and the catch-up at work continues well. Ahh. Light at the end of the tunnel. At least my piles aren’t getting any bigger…there are only slight surges in work from her blackberry now and then, but the list is done pretty quickly, and then it’s back to tackle the stacks still in progress. I’ll flatten them down someday!
We had a great and quick little camping trip two weeks ago. Jon’s parents bought themselves a new expandable trailer with internal plumbing, heated beds, electrical hookups, and a gas powered stove. It is the height of comfortable camping, and needed a trial run. We only spent one night with the family up the canyon, but it was lots of fun.
This was Hannah’s reaction to her first campfire!
Hannah liked being tossed in the air by her dad in front of the family and the campfire. Her first camping trip made her laugh.
She also had fun with her cousins.

Here we are with her closest cousin, Lucy and Lucy’s mommie, Kirsten.

We were all tired and ready to leave by the end of the morning. At least Hannah attempted it with some style.

We made it home just in time to get to our favorite Danielle’s rockin’ 25th birthday party. She kicks butt at Guitar Hero.

After all of the fun of that weekend, it was a week of a lot of work. Catching up in the office, trying to keep up with phone calls and brides needing help. We also ended up with two weddings this last weekend, which we’ve done before, but never with such a distance between location one and location two with not much time to get from one to the other.
Friday night we worked with Stephanie and Jake on their lovely wedding. Hannah was a trooper, and was utterly fascinated by the violinist playing background music. She sat and stared at the musicians for nearly an hour. I could almost see the recognition in her eyes when they’d play Mozart now and then because they were the same tunes she’d heard in her favorite video. Music really does sooth the savage beast. The food was fantastic, and we’re excited to have found a new caterer that we’d be comfortable recommending to anyone. All in all it was a wonderful event.
The wedding was finally winding down around 10 o’clock, so we said our goodbyes, said a prayer in the car, stocked up on Diet Coke and Mountain Dew at the corner store and then hit the road for Idaho. Luckily, Hannah slept for the entire ride, and we made it to our first stop in Pocatello by about 1 a.m. We checked in to our hotel, slept for a few hours in a surprisingly nice room, and then we got up at 7 and jumped in the shower to be on the road by 7:30. We made it to the Rexburg temple shortly after 9:00 a.m. We were perfectly on time for the wedding party to exit the temple and then we spent several hours shooting photos and enjoying time with old friends…some of the first couples we ever shot weddings for were in attendance, and it was so great to know that they still liked us, recommended us, and believed in the work that we would produce. We were done with the luncheon at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon, and drove away feeling pretty good about ourselves.
A quick stop at the gas station to fuel up the car as well as to sugar ourselves up and then it was one long drive all the way home. 8 p.m. and my little house had never looked so welcoming!
I did a lot of sleeping through the rest of the weekend to make up for the lack of it to that point, but we feel pretty good about all that we were able to do.
Jon is still working much too hard trying to crank out all the engagements and bridal pictures that are needed for all the August weddings that we have scheduled, and I think he’s forgotten what sleep is at this point. I try to keep up and help get Hannah out the door now and then, so we’ll see how close we cut it on some of these dates. We work with the best people and are so lucky to be here in our lives.
Hugs and love to all of you on this update of a Tuesday.

Cute pics of Hannah. We drove home from Powell late. We had to have caffeine. My husband hasn’t had caffeine in years. BUt, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
