Goodbye Elroy!
We just got the word from the insurance company. Our awesome Elroy is beyond what they would choose to repair, so we have to say goodbye to our good friend. What great times together! We flew down to Alabama to buy Elroy in May of 2007 and dubbed him Elroy because of his hybrid capabilities and shiny futuristic blue paint, ala the Jetsons. He drove us home through 14 states in 38 hours while I was two months pregnant, and it was a lovely smooth ride. He made Jon a better driver simply because Jon LOVED hitting the sweet spot of getting 50 miles of gas to the gallon…which meant that he drove at about 50 miles an hour no matter where he went. Elroy took us on vacations we would not have been able to take, simply because the gas was so much cheaper due to his hybrid nature. He was reliable and comfortable and affordable…everything a good family car should be! What a great car.
Goodbye, Elroy! We’ll miss you!
