Getting to know my man!

What’s his name? Jon. Swingin. Lover boy. His brother called him General Pushkin sometimes. He’ll answer to almost anything..
How long have you been together? Married three and a half years next month. Dated for ten months before that, and were friends for almost a year before that.
How long did you date? Off and on for about a year.
How old is he? 32. Yup, I robbed me a cradle!
Who eats more? He does. He knows not to order something big because he’s just going to have to finish my meal on top of his own.
Who said I love you first? I DID! Valentine’s Day, and it was the scariest thing I’d ever done. He’s still a little bit mad that he didn’t do it first.
Who is taller? He is…I am only 5′ 4″, and I love that he can cuddle me up with the top of my head in his neck.
Who sings better? I think that overall, I am, but he works really hard and does sing well, even winning a spot in the performing choir, Encore, up at the U for several years.
Who is smarter? He is definitely smarter.
Who does laundry? I do. He thinks we have a cleaning fairy that gathers up his dirty clothes and brings them back all folded to sit in his drawers.
Who does the dishes? He will if I ask (same with the laundry), but he’s so busy, I usually do the dishes.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you are facing the bed I do this week, but we change it up now and then and swap sides just for the heck of it.
Who pays the bills? He does. Everything is automatic on the computer, and since he’s on the computer every day, it just works better for him to pay bills.
Who mows the lawn? Pedro. Our HOA’s pay to have the grounds kept, and a nice young group of Hispanic men come regularly to mow, trim, sweep, and paint.
Who cooks dinner? I do most of the time, but once in a while when I’m running late or when I was pregnant and just couldn’t look at raw meat, Jon is great to step in. He’s really good too!
Who drives when you are together? He does. I like being able to do other things and when we’re in his car we get to hold hands because it’s an automatic transmission. When we go on long trips, sometimes we’ll trade off, but he really does drive for the bulk of our time.
Who is more stubborn? DEFINITELY Jon. I can have my moments, but he’s got the obvious red-headed streak…he’s got some of his dad’s tendencies too, so he’s stubborn .
Who kissed who first? He kissed me, but it was mutual very quickly.
Who asked out who first? I hinted for a long time…even dated several of his roommates just because that was the group I was hanging out with and I was waiting for him to wise up…He finally asked me to a baseball game for Saturday night, and I said yes. Then I got tickets to another baseball game for Friday, so I called him back and asked if he wanted to go to both games….so, he asked first, but we went on my date first.
Who proposed? Jon did. The first time was a sort of question during one of our long drives, “Have you ever thought about marrying me?” I said no because I didn’t allow myself to jump ahead like that when he might not even be thinking anything LIKE marriage. But I didn’t finish the sentence to say that I was GOING to think about it now, so I’ve had to apologize to him many times about that…he was hurt that I cut off all discussion by just saying No. We agreed to get married just by talking things out for the next few weeks, and then, Jon did the whole big proposal thing on April 16th in a Comedy Sportz show with most of our friends and family there to see. Dave even taped it for us, so I have it all on disk. SO embarrassing at the time, but so fun to look back at now.
Who is more sensitive? Probably me, but we both get weepy at the drop of a hat, and the producers of Extreme Makeover, Home Edition ought to sell us shares in Kleenex on the commercials.
Who has more friends? Definitely Jon. I’m slow to get to the friend phase, but hold on to them for a long time. Jon makes friends in a snap and loves to be good friends with everyone. He’s really good at it.
Who has more siblings? I do. Jon is number two out of five kids and I’m seven of nine.
Who wears the pants in your family? Jon. Hands down. He’s look great in a kilt, but I’m the skirt girl and he brings home the bacon and drives the van to church…he’s the patriarch and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I tag: Britta, Sarah, Carolynn, Biz and BeQui
